Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Classical Music Still The Greatest Stuff Of All Time
Some of you out there may have spent some time on the Music forums, which I've been a part of for ten years now. I've posted different types of music during that time. People have seen me as the country gold guru, as I've spent extensive time reminiscing and playing the artists that have made classic country music great through the explosive growth years in the industry.
In this post, however, I need to take pause.
You see, I don't just listen to country or smooth jazz or 60s pop, and on and on. I like some classical music now and then. What's wrong with a little Beethoven, Brahms, and Bach? Many great composers, known and unknown, have brought us some of the world's greatest music long before there was a Music City or Beale Street or the Brill Building. Each Sunday morning, I find myself listening to some music spots on Dallas' WRR-FM (101.1) in between some other programming. There, you would usually hear some lighter pieces that often involve strings, baroque, and some smatterings of choral work. During the rest of the week, you get those aforementioned artists and more, and with every legendary arrangement and composition that has made the classical genre masterful arts of beauty.
Regardless of what I've shared previously about those other genres, classical music still has the greatest pieces in all the world. Even pop and rock artists would have to agree, at some point, that there is an unspoken impetus for their inspirations. They might mention Buddy Holly, but don't you think that Rachmaninoff or Tchaikovsky may have also played a part? There's an intense appreciation for it, both by me and by the many out there who give these works a listening ear.
Listeners have their tastes. In between the noises of life, sometimes you need a creative diversion. It all makes for a richer music excursion.

Rockers, more or less, will never admit it, but they've got a favorite in classical music that they're hiding. Pop stars had their favorites. Some of the old bandleaders from yesterday were said to be classically trained.
