Moving to the new lot!

Posted 05-23-2021 at 10:27 PM by rodentraiser

The paperwork for swapping lots was done yesterday. Electric and septic are in and approved by the county. So either tomorrow or Tuesday we're going to tow my trailer over to the new lot and hook it up. I'll have electric heat and running water inside, as well as a fridge, for the first time in 18 months.

It's nice that I know I can live like my ancestors did, but I don't want to do this again. Electricity ROCKS! And so does a hot shower.

I have a 10x12 shed on the property so as soon as that's painted, I can get all my stuff out of storage. I need to upgrade to a better trailer but I can do that this fall when I've saved a bit more money. I have to keep at least $1000 set aside for my car which saw the mechanic a record 7 times in 8 months. And like me, the car is not getting any younger.

My lot will be completely bare and it's sort of late for planting so this summer I'll just do my best to set up the raised garden beds and bring in some top soil. I also need to look at getting a survey done of the property so I know exactly where the property lines are and then I want to clear out the underbrush. This might be Washington state, but I'm a California kid and I worry a lot about fire.

I will have the trailer set close to one end of the lot, so I will have just a teeny back yard. I was trying to decide between putting a pool or a hot tub back there, but I think as long as I'm in a trailer with only a shower, I'll set up a free standing tub. I can run a hose out the window from the kitchen sink for hot water and if anyone spies on me back there in my birthday suit, then it's their own fault if they have to go into therapy.
