A new trailer. Maybe

Posted 06-11-2021 at 05:10 PM by rodentraiser

So far I still haven't moved to the other lot BUT...that's because I've been looking for a better and larger trailer to live in and I think I found one.

I found a 1984 36ft 5th wheel that has been completely redone inside. My mom has loaned me money so I can buy it which means I'll be paying her back in July and August. This means I'm probably going to become reacquainted with the food bank. lol

We're supposed to pick the trailer up this Monday and there's so much that can go wrong. A tire has to be changed and I'm worried the spare or another tire won't be good. The guy towing the trailer is nervous about bringing it up our hill. And my mom's check hasn't arrived yet even though she mailed it last Saturday. I already have $2000 into this trailer to hold it, so if something goes wrong, I'm going to lose that money. That makes me a wee bit nervous.

The contractor and I have signed the paperwork to make the swap official. But then I find out there's a lien on the new lot. I was sort of thinking it would be nice to keep my old lot but the contractor promptly paid his money and the lien is now taken off. Just something else for me to fret over.

I guess I actually did something sensible for once in my life when I bought my lot, tho. The contractor developed and put houses on the two lots next to mine. One has already sold for $369,000. I choked a bit when I saw that.

My new lot, which was about the same price as my old lot, is now worth $96,000 with the septic, electric, and water on it. Not too bad for what was a $30,000 empty, weed-filled lot.

And for those asking, there are no lot restrictions in this development and no HOAs either. The trailer I'm getting will be tucked out of sight on the new lot and can't be seen by any of the surrounding properties or from the street.

Anyway, I will post an update next week about the trailer. It will take a week to get it all hooked up but even though I'll have electricity, I'm putting off setting my computer back up until I've paid back my mom and I'm a little more financially ahead.

I just won't quit worrying until I see the trailer on my new lot tho. Cross your fingers for me.

As long as you don't get swindled, you'll find the right deal.

I don't think I got swindled, but I do think I could have waited a bit, saved more money, and gotten something a little better.

On the plus side, getting a trailer I can live in now is just one less thing to worry about.
