One step forward, 2647 steps back

Well, I've had the trailer for three weeks but I have yet to move in. There were a few things I needed to buy so when my SSDI check came in a couple days ago, I went on a shopping spree.

I bought a bed, sheets, microwave, toilet, septic hose, and a bunch of other stuff. I got the washer and dryer up on their pallets ( shed for them comes later), I was going to connect the water, we got the propane set up so I could cook in the new trailer, and I planned to get all my things out of storage next weekend.

Alas, I can't find where to connect the water, the stove doesn't work, I can't install the toilet by myself, the dryer's plug doesn't fit the opening in the fuse box, the septic hose won't arrive for at least a week, the bed won't be delivered until August, and now I can't afford to move my stuff out of storage until next month. Sometimes I really wonder about the universe.

Along with everything else, I still need to WD-40 all the windows so they'll slide open, I'm trying to get the rust off the base for the chopping block, I still need to remove the dinette set in the kitchen so I have room for said chopping block, I need to take down all the blinds and replace them with curtains, I need to build a mini-wall out of stone for my wildflowers, the shed needs to be painted, and I have to finish the mailbox. Plus I'll need to buy a computer desk and an armoire for a closet.

Nothing like keeping busy. Something tells me this is going to be a long slow process.

But I've got some company now. One little chickadee I named Cheeky, because he is, shows up every day to see what I'll share with him. I put out a bowl of water and throw bread crumbs to him, but found out he especially loves Poptarts. He was joined by a Junco (sp?) tonight who rightly suspicioned he'd been missing out, so I'm getting them some good, healthy birdseed tomorrow.

The little red squirrel is also getting bold. I wasn't up early enough for him this morning so he jumped on the trailer (I'm still sleeping and cooking in the old trailer for now) and bounced around until I got up and yelled at him.

I found out tonight we have another resident I DON'T want to meet. A cougar was spotted, in daylight, right in the road close to the driveway of my old lot. In other words, just around the corner from me and way too close for comfort. I'm rethinking this bicycle thing and considering a stationary bike instead.

So since I can't do anything more until next month, I won't have much to write about until then. Everyone have a happy 4th!
