Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

I give thanks to the Lord and sing praises to Him and tell of the wonderful things He has done. (Psalm 105:1,2)

I glory in Jesus' holy name as I seek His face and glory in His holy name. (Psalm 105:3,4)

Jesus is the Lord my God as I am complete in Him and the New Covenant He has made with me. (Psalm 105:7,8)

I receive my inheritance in Christ and the anointing that is on my life. (Psalm 105:11,15)

The fire of the Holy Spirit guides me to be fruitful in God's Kingdom as I advance in His calling on my life. (Psalm 105:24,39)

I am satisfied and shout for Joy as I eat the flesh of Jesus, the Bread of Heaven. (Psalm 105:40,43)

The Rock of my salvation nourishes me as I drink of the water of His holy Word. (Psalm 105:41,42)

I take possession of God's promises and apply them to carrying out His purpose for my life in order to bear fruit for the Kingdom. (Psalm 105:44,45)

I give and sing praises to the holy name of the Lord for He is always good and His lovingkindness is everlasting. (Psalm 106:1)

My righteousness is in Christ Jesus who gives me His favor. (Psalm 106:3,4)

Why pray the Psalm scriptures out loud?

It is hard to think about something other than what you are talking about. Praying out loud the scriptures solves the problem of the wandering mind. -- spoken words speak to the soul and have the power of raising thoughts in the soul. The Psalm scriptures speak of God in the Highest manner which most fully expresses the power and presence of God.

Strong's definition for "meditate" - HAGAH (Greek) - means to imagine. First pray the scripture out loud -- then pray the scripture back to God. This prayer can be the prayer of thanksgiving, supplication, or praying the greatness of God and the benefits of God.

The first thing that you are to do when you are upon your knees, is to shut your eyes, and with a short silence let your soul place itself in the presence of God.

When you direct any of your petitions to Jesus let it be: thou art the radiance of thy Father's glory. Thou art the Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end of all things: Thou has destroyed the power of the devil and hast overcome death.
