Some people are not good with that kind of information. On the other hand I remember driving someone home from high school when we were 16 year old juniors. Casually, he asked me, why were you thrown out of Camp two summers ago. I implicitly trusted him and answered. The response was not broadcast and we are friends to this day. I am going to his 65th at the end of June.
At the end of the previous, successful camp summer, 1971, my Dad had a colostomy, to remove an aggressive rectal tumor. Most of the kids I went knew from 8th Grade, on the merge with other Junior High Schools for Academic 1971-2 were, to put it mildly, unhelpful, even for 14 year olds. A 13 year old that traveled with us to a ski camp that Christmas was shocked. Two vignettes from that year (link). In short I was emotionally not in a good place the beginning of that summer 1972. Also, the first half of that July the camp was basically a sea of mud, courtesy of Tropical Storm Agnes. Not much to do at the camp. I had some conflicts in my bunk. Finally, a kid, nicknamed "Peanuts" got on my case. I was upset enough I through a pair of scissors, not at him, but into a mud puddle so it splashed him. He was "scared" and I was sent home.
The second half, August 1972 I went to a different camp, with brighter, more conducive kids. That, combined with much better weather made the experience successful.
