Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

The Humorous Things That Ruin A Time Of Solitude

Posted 06-05-2022 at 08:52 PM by case44

Usually, when it's Sunday morning and the weather is comfortable enough, your writer likes to get on his second-floor patio to watch a pre-dawn sunrise. From May to around August in North Texas, the colors pierce the darkness before 6 a.m. CDT. Picturesque, if you ask me.

Well, I got a good fifteen minutes of what I like to call Sunday morning solitude in, when suddenly, an uninvited guest made an appearance on my patio. My title does say things, as in, there, potentially, are many different things that could interfere with a good time of solitude. You can name them one by one and put them on a list.

There is but one about to be mentioned here, but then, one is all it takes.

The uninvited guest I alluded to earlier was none other than a single wasp. That's what it looked like even with so little light outside. I don't like them flying around close to me, as I've had a past experience with stings, including an ominous one in Brownwood, Texas, not very long ago. Unable to grab some insect repellent which was too far hidden away, your writer had to make a beeline back into the abode and the air-conditioning. The fact that it happened kind of quick, almost like a scene in a movie, could give an onlooker a chuckle. Sometimes, from that front, maybe we (I?) need a good laugh. In the case of one day looking back at this incident, the laugh would be more appropriate. This was a great morning to be out there, but it also wasn't quite meant to be.

Just as good of a view can also take place from indoors; the difference inside is you can't hear the birds and other outside things. Oh, well. Maybe next Sunday.
