Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

There's Nothing Better On The 4th Than That Charbroiled Taste

After taking in a good parade wherever you may be, I couldn't think of a better thing to have on a hot July 4th afternoon than a hamburger. And not just any hamburger, but a charbroiled hamburger.

In the case of today, I was on the road and wasn't going to cook any at home this time around, but I got to stop in at a local, Arlington, Texas, eatery and munch on a couple of charbroiled hamburgers. Even put some lightly-salted French fries on the side for good measure. I could have picked three or four different places that put the burger over an open-flame, and I wouldn't go wrong with either of them. And that air fryer I have at home gives me a better-than-grilled taste after I properly marinate the patties. Either way, burgers on the 4th fit the bill every year and nothing else matters.

Fireworks can wait. Burgers can't.

Okay, so the former will happen at night, but while it was still daylight, I'd bet many of you were planning cookouts with family or with friends to celebrate the 4th. Save your watermelon for dessert , and grab you some goodies off the flame grill. Hopefully, y'all have gotten to do that. Now, if you choose to do steaks or chicken, then that's good, too. Flamebroiled doesn't just taste better than flat-grilling; it's actually better for you. Even gives your meat less calories when you don't have extra grease to be dealing with.

I'm already looking forward to the next 4th.............., except that I'll be working that day (as it will be on Tuesday in '23), but I'll certainly get my air fryer as ready as it can be for suppertime!

I had a great time on the 4th, mal, but I won't be able to make a Minute Maid game this year. Next year, for sure, unless anything drastic happens in the life of our country. Your Cards are almost catching up to the Brewers. Congrats to Goldy on his 300th homer.
