Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Northwest Arkansas Will Be Case's Next Vacay Stop

For much of the last couple of years, your writer has tried to rummage up new locations for future road trips. One of the places on my mind for consideration is a part of the country which I'll be headed to next.
I've been wanting to put together a Fayetteville-Bentonville-Fort Smith, Arkansas, itinerary for some time, and now, those environs will become a reality in two weeks (as of this writing). Originally, I wanted to make room last year, but other circumstances and priorities had pushed back such a trip. And it's going to be fun. My hotel planned for Fayetteville will have views of rolling hills. The plan is for me to do five days in Fayetteville and two more in Fort Smith. Among the cuisines to be explored locally will be catfish, Italian food, Mexican food, barbecue, and country cooking. Two museums (Arkansas Air & Military Museum and the Crystal Bridges Museum) will get visits from your writer. My road fanatic persona will also come into play as I will, at least, clinch Interstate 49 (what exists of it) in Arkansas. That highway has projects going on in the NWA area, as well as in the Fort Smith region, but I'll get to drive every mile of what, basically, is a relatively new road.
Weather, hopefully, will cooperate, but I'll check the forecasts when the time gets closer. It's going to be new to me, and fresh, and that's what will make this an interesting road trip.

Just got back. Great time. Hot in Fayetteville for the entire stay, but rain came in after my arrival in Fort Smith. All in all, though, everything worked out just fine.
