Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Last Time I Checked, Vay Still Rhymes With Stay

Your writer does have a vacation coming up, and he's as giddy as a kid in a candy store.
However, there will be toned-down expectations for now, as I'm keeping things close to home.
That's not to say that I'm going to sit idly by. Never! I live close to two large cities, and there are many towns not far from me which I don't get to spend time in on my days off from work. All I have to do is get in my Shark and go where it takes me. Next week, temperatures will be a beaut. May get a little rain here and there, but I'll take it. If it's going to rain, then it might as well do so when it isn't snowing.
When spring arrives in 44 days, I don't want to hear things like Red Flag Warnings (meaning possible fire dangers in dry areas). The almanac did say that the season to come will be wetter than normal before a hot and dry summer.
In the meantime, there's staycation to be had in North Texas. No hotels right now and likely not so until June when I plan to go see the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park for the first time in a few years. The vay will have to be the stay. Have to keep the money in check for now due to government-induced inflation. Nonetheless, your writer will be grinning from ear to ear as he needs his respite from work. After all, I like to go into vacation feeling fresh (with a big haircut) and ending the time going back to my great job thinking fresh. And there's also the Super Bowl at the end of next week, too. Rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs (as they'll play the Philadelphia Eagles out in Phoenix).
So glad to live in Texas, the greatest state in America.................and the world.

Thought I'd stretch the staycation's boundaries a little.
Heading for Waco tomorrow (Thursday) to check out the Magnolia Silos. I'll have at least two choices for lunch, but one of them is a few miles away on Waco's south side, though it's owned by Chip and Joanna. It'll be really hard driving past Heitmiller's and not stop in for, at least, some onion rings.
Friday, I may briefly hit Seven Points and get back to Molly's for some catfish.Posted 02-08-2023 at 08:18 PM by case44
