Which side of your brain works the hardest?
Have you ever taken one of those right brain/left brain quizzes?
I took a few several months ago. I was curious which side of my brain was being overworked. (And underworked.) Of course we all use both sides of our brain (well... most of us
), but it looks like we generally tend to favor one side or the other.
Apparently I favor my right side. And normally I don’t mind. I’m usually quite proud of all the work the right side of my brain is doing. But somedays, like today, I find myself wishing I had a little more left brain strength going on.
Today I couldn’t find my keys. Or my cell phone. Or my purse. Or the sunblock. And I had -5 minutes to get out the door. I started way too many projects and I’m not sure if I finished any of them… I’m scheduled to get a wisdom tooth pulled tomorrow so I guess that is why I am wishing I was a little less right-brained today (i.e. disorganized). I had plans of putting my little feet up when I got home tomorrow, relaxing, looking around in satisfaction upon my organized domain. (You know how you always like to have things tidy before you go on a trip? That feeling...)
Which doesn’t look like it’s going to happen (the looking around at my organized domain part)... but I will put my feet up anyway. My husband says he has the perfect meal for my post-operative mouth planned, and since he’s taking the day off, we’re planning to relax and watch a movie, that 10,000 bc one. The preview sure made it look exciting...
Anyway… I’m going off on a tangent. Yet another characteristic of right brained persons. I’ve often thought the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (and several others by the same author) sum me up quite nicely.

George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Teddy Roosevelt.
As far as the President who wouldn't have become President if his father had been kidnapped by Indians with the exception of his brother being a good shot...
I read a book on Lincoln several years ago and I don't recall any close encounters with Indians on his relatives side so I rule him out unless I'm missing something.
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson... I don't ever remember hearing a story about them or their families encountering that sort of situation but I can't say that I know with certainty it wasn't those two.
I would have to say that although Teddy "The Rough Rider" Roosevelt garnered his nickname from something different, this sort of story seems indicative of the tales one would tell about such a President. By using deductive reasoning, I am going to take a stab and guess that it was him, or should I say his father. But, that's merely a guess based mostly on the fact that he is the President I know least about and I had not heard this story about the other Presidents. Doesn't mean I'm right though.
Edit: I looked up the answer. I was wrong. Dead wrong. I'm embarassed.

Thanks for trying out the right brain/left brain quiz! It's fun to see which way you all lean... coosjoaquin, you are nearly perfectly balanced I think (nice job on the 2 presidents). And Acevaz, our scores are the same! Bibit612, you are very much over there in left brain land. I bet you are good at logical and analytical thinking? Maps too? Thanks for sharing everyone...
And thank you GCSTroop for taking a go at the Mt. Rushmore questions! Wish I could give you a big hug. You are right on about those presidents. I think Roosevelt is the trickiest. And don't worry about missing the 2nd question. It was something I was surprised about myself when I stumbled upon it. I'll post the answer for everyone on the Mt. Rushmore thread. Actually you are testing learning styles and temperament versus left/right hemisphere although left side is prominent in math and logic and right is associated with creativity. Organized versus flexible is a temperament style. Try personality tests like the Meyers Briggs and others based on same concept. We will learn if we are extrovert or introvert, practical or imaginative (thinking versus feeling, rational versus more emotional) intuitive versus sensing. I realize I have crossed categorical classification names across several tests (for experts that recognize I did not adhere to solely Myers Briggs classifications) however there is more than simply left versus right hemisphere. There are the characteristics that underlie our personality traits. Many creative people are highly organized and the reverse is true. Simply put, try some online temperament quizzes that are based on Jung theory or search Myers Briggs to lead you to the free ones.
