Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Perhaps The (Yellow Brick) Road Goes On Forever

Once upon a time, this effort was supposed to be a farewell tour for Sir Elton John. After all, he'd been in the business for the better part of five decades and has made so many things happen. And when I was a kid, Elton John scored pop hit after pop kit.

Well, fast forward to now, and the king of the Yellow Brick Road is in the middle, supposedly, of his farewell tour, as much as I hate even the thought of such. That tour had already experienced delays with COVID and, just now, I've peeked at Rolling Stone and they're telling us that Elton fell awkwardly on his hip recently and ended up having to have an operation, putting delays in his European portion. Understandable, given his age and that he needs to be at full strength to get through a concert. But that proverbial end to the Yellow Brick Road just extended another few miles. And for his fans, that's only a good thing.

The road might go on forever. Didn't Robert Earl Keen do something like....

Forget it.

And he's not touring with Elton, either, although he'd be one whale of a warmup act. Imagine "Copenhagen" and "Rocket Man" in the same show. That's not happening, sports fans. Elton John can hold his own on his own and doesn't need any opening acts, even if it's Paul McCartney. That tour will hit Texas next year in a few spots. If I ever decided to get a concert ticket and see one show, aside from George Strait, then Elton John should be the one.

Even with a bad hip, he's still standing!

I'll have to look his tour up. If he comes to St Louis, I'd like to catch him there. I think he has a partial ballpark tour coming up.
