Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Crazy Day At Work While Contending With A Big Bug Fly

Posted 01-14-2022 at 07:59 PM by case44

My work day was not really bad, but it could have been much better had someone else previously in the building not let in an uninvited guest. Long story, and because I won't bore you, I won't go there.

That guest of dishonor was a flying bug, larger than the average fly, and although it buzzed, it wasn't a wasp or a bee. And it kept flying near my desk. And on my desk. And on my head. I didn't know that that the area behind my ear had to become an airport. The flying object would not go away. At one point, the pesky prowler actually landed on my desk in front of my computer keyboard. I couldn't reach for my small notebook (to use as a flyswatter) in time to be able to get the flying bug. For some of my work day, I'd gotten up so many dadgummed times that I felt like I was making dance moves at Studio 54. Desperate times called for desperate measures. I actually sprayed some Febreze into the air towards the flying bug at one point and actually thought I'd gotten to him. He disappeared for a few hours.........................and then came back.

So, Ol' Case took to the streets after work to stop at Home Depot for some insecticide spray. I could not find a new flyswatter, and so, the best I'll have to do for now is get the one I already have at home and take it with me to work. I can always get another flyswatter for the abode for later on. My mission was to head back into the office with the lights already out, and I dutifully sprayed the bug-killing substance in some key places in the cubicles. By the time I head back into work in the morning, hopefully that should do the trick.

Oh, you can sing the words to "The Blue Tail Fly", but this writer's just not interested.

Our building's maintenance guru had informed me that they think they nailed the bug fly. I sure hope so.

At least, I've got my flyswatter in tow just in case we still see an unwanted flying object around.

    Hey, a UFO???
