Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Might Be Some New Construction On A Third New Water Tower In Lubbock

This was something I noticed on Google Street View that looked intriguing. Although you can see activity from on top, you won't have any of the latest frames from street level reflecting it.
A few moons ago, we talked on Case's Column about the city of Lubbock replacing their old water-pumping equipment with fresh new towers. Their plan was to build five in the next five to seven years. Previously, two had already been built, one on 50th Street and another on Milwaukee Avenue. Well, now, I spotted what looked like new construction on 3rd Street just west of University Avenue and north of the Texas Tech University campus. Lo, and behold, it's going to be a new water tower.
What else would it be?
Not a large mushroom....
Strangely enough, not a peep about it in the Avalanche-Journal or any of the TV newsers, but you're finding out right here, and shouldn't that matter most? If our friend shoe01 makes any more trips to the Hub City, then I'm sure he can let us know some new things. At any rate, I'll keep you posted on significant progress being made with the new water tower.

Pics of that new water tower are visible after all on Google. Go to University Avenue and highlight the northbound lanes. You'll have frame pictures taken in June 2023 and then look westward in the shot. Oh, and another thing: I haven't heard anything about the new city identity logo that Lubbock's City Council was supposed to vote on recently. This new logo (City of LBK) is supposed to be placed on these water towers and other city-related repertoire going forward.
