The dam holding back the nine-mile-long Lake Delhi in northeastern Iowa collapsed in the early morning hours of July 24, 2010. The rushing waters of the Maquoketa River severely impacted the residents living directly below the breach. FEMA, state and other officials have initiated preliminary damage assessments.
