I believe that Atlanta has one of the best, if not the best, climate of any major metro area east of the Mississippi. Although the summer heat stays for a while, it doesn't get nearly extreme as it does during heatwaves in Chicago and New York. Also, it doesn't get nearly as hot and as humid as places further south and along the coast like Savannah and New Orleans. Even Memphis gets way more uncomfortable that Atlanta in the summer. The high elevation here helps.

The fall and the spring are absolutely perfect! In October, the weather is always bright and sunny with little humidity and temperatures during the day between 75 and 80. April is absolutley beautiful when everything comes into bloom.

The winters here are like mid to late fall up north with daytime temps between 50 and 60 degrees and an occasional freeze. It gets cool enough here to make you miss spring and summer, but not so cool that you're confined indoors and suffering from depression as a result of sunlight deprivation. Also, there are periods during the winter where it will hit 70 degrees and you can barbecue or do anything outside.

The only downside to the climate here is the pollen that arrives in April. Other than that, the climate here is amazing.
