The attitude at the time was "Oh it's just a bunch of f*gs dying so why should we care?" I lived through those times and I can tell you thats exactly what it was like.

It was around the same time that some housewife in flyoverland got a poisoned tylenol and the government went into hyperdrive and spent millions of dollars trying to find out what happened.

The first time he even uttered the word "AIDS" was during a speach when he said the government wanted to find out how far AIDS had affected "the general population".

Like gay people are not part of "the general population".

I will hate that man forever because my friends died thinking it was "God's judgement" or some bullsh*t fundamentalist nonsense.

Does that answer your question sweetheart?
A very inaccurate and just plain wrong post, 1101.

According to the Congressional Research Service, federal spending on HIV/AIDS began at $8 million in fiscal year 1982. By the time Reagan left office, the fiscal 1989 budget contained $2.322 billion for HIV/AIDS. Overall, between fiscal years 1982 and 1989, the Reagan administration spent $5.727 billion on HIV/AIDS.

The average annual increase in HIV/AIDS funding over this period was 128.92%. So take your hate somewhere else because you are wasting it in this thread. I lived through those times, too.
