People are boldly predicting all kinds of things on this forum. Let's put ourselves to a real test. What's going to happen 11/4-11/5. Post it here.

On November 5, we'll bump the thread back so we can see who had it right.

My prediction: This is going to be very close. We'll be up very late on November 4th. Won't even guess who will win.

I predict LANDSLIDE OBAMA, and a pickup of 5 Senate seats for the DEMS.

I think the big surprises will be that McCain wins Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

The question isn't whether or not Obama will win, the real question is by how much.

Conservative estimates give Obama 306 electoral votes. He is ahead in 6 of the 8 remaining toss-up states.

Pretty accurate...all the cheerleaders on the D and R sides fail to see through the reality of it all though.

That would be a shocker, but the funny part about that scenario is that Obama and win without them (despite being ahead in all three).

I'll go with Intrade.com's "market-based" prediction.

Obama 375 electoral votes
McCain 163 electoral votes

BTW, right now you can buy 10 shares of McCain for $12.50 or 10 shares of Obama for $88.
For all you McCain optimists, you get back eight times your investment if McCain wins.
Not bad for a one week investment.

Meanwhile more than one respected pollster and analyst called the race for John Kerry as late as election day itself.

The betting markets saw their best triumph of 2004 in Florida. Even though a number of polls put Kerry ahead in that state, or said the race was too close to call, the betting markets consistently showed Bush would win Florida comfortably.

Indeed, if the Democrats had paid as much attention to the markets as the polls, I am convinced that the election result would have been different. They could have downsized their effort in Florida and focused their efforts more on other swing states where betting sites showed the race was much closer.

Intrade followed up in 2006 when the market favorite won each and every Senate seat up for election. Moreover, in large part the stronger the favorite, the bigger was the margin of victory.
