This is an interesting topic. The article hits on two main problems.

1- Inferior cops who do not have the control to be on the streets.

2- Increasing regulations to raise revenue from violators.

I don't have much to input on the first issue. That needs to be handled internally.

The second problem regarding revenue I do have an opinion. If they are not receiving enough money, we need to understand the money flow.

If local police forces get their money through state and local income taxes, that becomes a problem when many in the community don't have a regular job... or they work below the radar without W-2 forms. So that short cuts funding for the police. Factor in the millions of illegals in the country that don't pay taxes, yet receive benefits from being protected by the police. It makes total sense that police forces are short of cash.

Maybe the tax system needs to change so that instead of taking income through employment wages... people are taxed on a slight progressive scale and they pay direct regardless of their employment situation.

Also - if we want to continue to take tax money from wages - that makes the country's policy on jobs much more important. All of these jobs that are sent overseas... that's tax money that does not get to the police station - yet they are still expected to do the same quality job.
