we had our front yard hydro-seeded after a couple years of neglect following the loss of a half-dozen large cedars and white pines during a severe wind storm, turning an area of shaded pine forest floor into a lush patch of garden beds and lawn.

46 yds black dirt - $800
skid steer - $160
hydroseed (4,800 sq ft) - $715
labor (also included installation of pavers) - $420
total - $2,095

did get cheaper quotes, but the work was guaranteed and was one of the few contractors who listened to what I wanted instead of dictating what he wanted to do, like most of them.
