One thing I really like about C-D is that there are no nested quotes. Additionally, when I quote someone a link is automatically inserted into my post. This makes it really easy to follow a conversation backwards without having those annoying nested quotes found in other forums.

Its a cool forum, but the moderators here are way too strict. I think there should be freedom on internet forums, I mean come on.. its the internet.

I think they are not strict enough vis-à-vis the "politics and other controversies" section.

If half of us are mad at the mods for being too strict, and the other half is mad at the mods for not being strict enough, they have probably found the right balance.

One area in which I do agree with you is with respect copying and pasting articles. In another forum people frequently copy entire articles because otherwise the link goes dead, and then new people coming into the discussion don't have a clue what the OP was talking about.

There's a lot of bashing of the Millennials by the Boomers which is extremely frustrating. I get the impression that this forum is mostly used/operated by older conservative-Republican types.

I have found some too strict and others laissez faire. I do agree with your point of view, though. Overall, it is not an easy job and they still deserve our appreciation!

Some users intentionally hi-jack threads they disagree with so that the thread gets closed by the mods. This absolutely ruins the experience of posting on this forum.

Those that disagree with you are most noticeable!!

I've had many complaints that city-data has a strong liberal bias.

Your first sentence is spot on. I think particular sub-forums do have a bias however.

Another thing most of those complaining about bias fail to see, or maybe don't know about ? is that unless you're a mod, you can only see your infractions and/or deleted posts. This leads to many misunderstandings as people assume they're being singled out.
Finally, we all make mistakes. I know I've made my share but I always learn from them, fix them and apologize.
To give you some actually useful advice: when you feel something is wrong, that the mod treated you unfairly, before you go on a rant about how politically/ideologically motivated his actions were, before you start accusing the mod of God knows what, maybe try being calm and civil ? Ask what happened, ask for explanation. Don't demand, don't call names. Just as in real life, being respectful will get you further than being obnoxious
Yac.
