it provides this clock icon before you open a thread old post
and all posts have a date

You can do that, too. Just right click on your name and one of the options is to see all the posts that person has made.

Mods have a close or shut down tool, correct? People are going to respond to open 5 year old threads if the topic is somewhat relevant and grabs them. I have been guilty of it and given points because of so.

I have asked mods to shut down years old open threads. One sure sign of it being dated is the poster's names are not seen any longer.

Under 'Edit Options-> Messaging & Notification -> Default Thread Subscription Mode', I turn on the option to auto-subscribe to threads which I create or post in.

When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
