Would it be possible to have the moderator closing a thread make a short comment and then close the thread.

I believe Yac always does this, and it gives a sense of closure (double entendre not intended). Sometimes, like today, I was just about to hit the reply button when I realized it had a closed symbol.

Just a thought!

Great advice -- especially for a new moderator.

Thanks, OTR.

If a thread has been locked and the moderator did not leave their name or a reason for the closure, is there any way to find out why???

Why can't they put a little explanation in. That's what the OP was asking for. That way we wouldn't have to bother a moderator with questions.

In most cases it is because they don't want to bring the thread back to the top. Sometimes they don't have time to write a post while moderating.

LOL...

Sometimes I do not leave my name or an explanation because I don`t want to bump a thread thats half way down the page, to just bring back to the top.

Yes but if it's closed it doesn't matter if it's bumped to the top does it?
