Has anyone ever looked at Dakar? From some of the pictures, it seems beautiful.

Antanarivo, Madagascar.

I did not get as far as Timbuctoo, because of a cholera quarantine on the river, but Mopti, Mali, was the most beautiful city I saw in Africa.

Bukavu, in the eastern Congo is in a very beautiful setting, but nothing special about the city itself.

Ganvie, Benin, is built entirely on stilts with all structures accessible only by boat, which lends a unique beauty to the place.

Very interesting cities you all have posted. I'd have to go along with Trimac20 and choose Cape Town.

Yes - I have been there and it is beautiful. Some of the beaches had natural soft sand, people were beautiful and friendly, food was great and there is various natural beauty to see throughout the region.

I could never pick one country over another in Africa. Each country I have been to so far (5) in addition to pictures I see of other African countries - they all have natural beauty.

I'll go ahead and throw out Constantine, Algeria. A city of a million people straddling a 1,000' deep gorge has got to be pretty impressive.
