Here's an African song that come out back when..I like the beat and lyrics....Not sure how they categorize this music..African pop? Rock? And I'd be curious as to how 'Africa' related to this?
Regarding the video I posted in the original post, is that way of "dancing" considered somewhat obscene in Africa as well or is it normal there? I am asking as in one of those videos there were even older (by African standards one might say old) women "dancing" like that...
Not its not obscene either in Africa or the Caribbean.
Yes, well, maybe I am just too conservative, I can't stand vulgar behavior, vulgar by my standards of course, but still, that is all that matters as far as I am concerned.
But I am not really important here as I don't live in Africa. I was more interested to know if Africans themselves find that vulgar as well or if it is considered normal there to "dance" like that...
What will be considered vulgar is the extreme forms of dance in some Jamaican dance hall.
Gyrating your waist is sensual, and so playful. People aren't afraid of playing with sex as many Europeans are.
Bending over and spreading your parts is vulgar as it leaves nothing to the imagination,
Africans aren't afraid of being sensuous, even including Muslim cultures like Senegal.
Would be good to have a real African answer my question instead of some Internet-based smart alecks from the West
Africans have answered it for themselves given that most forms of female dance in sub Saharan Africa involve gyration of the buttocks and pelvis. These are very traditional cultures, so clearly they don't see it as vulgar.
The difference between you and them is that they see sex as an important part of living, because without sex there would be no life. So sex is not something that is dirty and ought to be hidden. Within limits of course.
