I contacted United Way via e-mail to ask if their international branch had anything going, and am waiting for a response.

Anyone who cares about Africa, or human beings in general, should be concerned about this, as it is a once in a lifetime crisis. City-sized swarms are literally stripping clean anything in their paths. There is the potential off for MILLIONS to starve here.

The media is not completely quiet, but we are sure hearing a hell of a lot more about impeachment, the Corona virus, and Kobe Bryant. Not that those are not relevant topics, but, I repeat, MILLIONS could die from this.

Let me know if you know where I could make a donation.

Thanks so much for your posting.

This issue pops up from time to time in just about every country. African countries should be getting animals and plants that the locust don't like to bring down the population and plan for them annually. It doesn't appear that the spraying is doing any good and just cause other problems.

The countries that are dependent on the food supply from Africa should be aiding this effort. It looks like Italy is getting involved and will be contributing $70M towards efforts. The USAID is helping with research (not sure about the aid). Some organizations are listed below.

Desert Locust Information Service (DLIS), UN Food and Agriculture Organisation
Desert Locust Control Organization for Eastern Africa

Agriculture & Consumer Protection Department
FAO's Animal Production and Health
