Chinese discriminate Africans because of Covid-19?

So is this really happening?

Africans being targeted, evicted, and left homeless in China over false corona virus claims.

Wow China, I'm shocked (sarcasm). All of this virus doesn't discriminate talk and some of the bigger defenders of the Chinese WERE (yes, were) from the African continent. What gives?

Nigerian consular in Guangzhou, China stood up for Nigerians displaced by the Chinese government.

The cities that this is happening in are Guangdong and Fujian and we see what's happen here during this pandemic and there's a great imbalance taking place. I agree overall with the East Asian worlds that they shouldn't receive hate due to Covid-19..... Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc y'all can leave the room and drive home safely. Mentally, I have a "China you stay right there" idea in my mind. There were some Chinese citizens who were providing cover for the Newly Homeless Africans living there. Chinese are treating Kenyans, Nigerians, Ghanaians, etc like mierda. Denied service but the Chinese are living well and walking around like kings on the Continent? I'm not an African citizen but I'm part of the Diaspora.

The various leaders African countries probably won't respond correctly but I hope that the African peoples respond and force the Chinese to respect the people of The Continent... (they are calling Covid-19 an African virus now. African cops better start implementing bogus shake-downs now until).

I'm in America/US, what do people of Africa think?

I don't mean for this to be a whataboutism, but are you also outraged that Asian Americans of differing origin are on occasion subjected to hate crimes and discrimination in the United States? Do you also have the same indignation?

Sigh, I'm not into anyone facing hate crimes and discrimination in the US or out. My outrage is on high level when everything is factored in between the Chinese and various Africans. I take it that you don't know what's happening regarding this entire situation. How do you feel about a scapegoat turning around and finding their own scapegoat and being mistreating them? That's what this boils down to. The Chinese government are using African of whatever origin as a scapegoat. "I'm Asian, not a virus" has turned into "I'm Asian, not a virus but those Africans are a virus."

Yep. It's whataboutism.

If the Chinese get kicked out of Africa over this, it would not be unusual.

Oh, it's terrible. But, in addition to the discrimination that Asians face here, we also expelled over 10,000 migrants using COVID-19 as a rationale in the past 3 weeks. Authoritarian governments consolidate power and silence critics in times like these. It's an important post, but coming from an American who (sarcasms) their way through the post just happened to rub me the wrong way personally. If we're going to have a discussion, it seems better to have one without self-righteousness (and I apologize if there wasn't any intended. It's always possible that I mis-interpreted your prose.

Sometimes they are and sometimes they're not. There's a frequency with which our own President speaks that drums up support for it, so to say that we then prosecute those actions is a little dubious. Often times they are randomized. Police may not nearly the time for "hate crimes" during a global pandemic, so this could be pretty theoretical at this point.

Again, the federal government is expelling their own list of undesirables en masse right now. I just hope we're as concerned. I'll bow out of the discussion at this point and will continue reading and watching the links that the OP threw out there -- it is valuable information.

You really have to brush up on your awareness of this Chinese and African relationship. I'm "African American" so, I'm aware of discrimination but it isn't about me. Are you aware of China's multi tiered multiple year plan to colonize the African continent in the same manner of the European? Are you aware of that Chinese restaurant who refuses to serve Kenyans, while operating in Kenya? Surely you know that those evicted Africans in China have already paid 3 or 6 months of rent and won't get that money back. I can go on but I'm not posting for a pity party. Chinese people working and living in Africa are living well.

Another thing, I've been keeping tabs on the China/Africa business relationship for a while and never did see it as even. Again, China freely called their pig problem an African swine flu without a second thought but get mad when Covid-19 was called the Wuhan or Chinese flu. Okay, that fine we'll give them a break. Now, there's Chinese in Guangdong speculation that Africans brought it into China. My sarcasm is not an issue right now. I have heard that the diplomats will sit and hash things out. They may still have business ties but Chinese attitudes have changed things forever because they have maliciously treated Africans from multiple countries and the US embassy said "African Americans" are even being dragged into this fiasco.

A couple of things and some may not like what I have to say:

1. NO China is not going to colonize Africa, they never have and have been long time partners of Africa. The USA owes China a ridiculous amount of money and have done similar deals with the US as they've done in Africa and they haven't colonized the USA or Europe. No one is talking about all of the aid and free support they have given the world to combat COVID19.
2. Don't mistake the Chinese government with the Chinese people
3. What have the colonizers done for Africa - NOTHING BUT create problems and MORE DEBT
4. If the Chinese didn't work with Africa there would be lack of infrastructure and growth.
5. Before the coronavirus there weren't all of these complaints with the Chinese by Africans. Wode Maya for instance had a Chinese girlfriend, toured factories, had Chinese mentors, went to school in China and was even going to go back to China. He wasn't crying racism then.
6. The reason Chinese people have treated Africans bad is in part because how we treat our own people. The standard of life we have grown to accept.
7. The anti-Chinese sentiments are being made by people that have not and can not do anything for Africa but talk. Are these mouthpieces going to pay back the money Africa owes to China?
8. The ripple effect of this anti-Chinese sentiment can jeopardize advancements and relationships and or can be an opportunity of growth on both parts.
9. Just a few years ago China forgave much of the debt Africa accumulated and guess what happened, they got into more debt. Who does that? Our desire for importing goods we can produce at home and love for the $ is a major problem (I'm generalizing and can elaborate but there are many components of financial management that need to be assessed especially as it pertains to fiscal discipline).
10. There are some Chinese people that are not good for Africa and should be kicked out of the continent not all but some. Same can be said of westerners and they have been the worst IMO. They have brought pedophilia, drugs, pornography etc I can go on and on and this hasn't happened with Chinese people
11. Let's not come at issues from an emotional perspective. Have the Chinese shot at or arrested Africans like other (people, nations - there has been one significant issue in their past which they have atoned for). I don't understand why those Africans are in China or any part of the world where people don't want you there to begin with. Why didn't the Africans go to their embassy and complain or go home? When they left quarantine why didn't they go to their next destination? If the Chinese people didn't want them there after the quarantine why didn't they deport them? Something about these stories don't make sense. Not that I don't believe them but I believe there is more to the story.
12. It's time Africa and China try to work out some of these issues.
13. Chinese people have issues within their ethnic groups too and clearly have been having issues with Americans. I don't believe we should be jumping on this bandwagon which I believe is being manipulated and some of us are buying right into it. There are issues yes what is the solution.
14. People should do more of their research when it comes to China, Russia, and Africa relations. There are bigger games being played don't be a pon.

BTW and for conversation sake, many US news outlets are stating that COVID19 is came from Europe and USA and that the strain found in NY came from Europe. Hmmm!

So what's the game Bayareagirl? Retaliation isn't always physical. I never said that China was to colonize, I said that they have a plan to (if they're the ones making big moves, might as well). Again, I'm not from there. Thanks for commenting but I do think it's foul. African countries have the potential to do well without the heavy dependancy of other nations to build subpar infrastructure. There has been anti African sentiments in China before this Corona thing hit, come on now.
