Very true. It's already happening with ChatGPT. Based on what cyber security experts are saying it's going to get much worse very soon. Exponentially worse as AI becomes more sophisticated.

AI can actually help with cyber security and make that job easier but is presenting new challenges that experts are not at all prepared for. The below article is from a tech site. It's pretty easy to read though. AI is able to create new malware that can evade current anti-virus protection. In laymen's terms they are describing sophisticated malware that can "shapeshift" making it undetectable. Great.

Look at the problems the gov't has had with cyber security. Private companies too. I remember not long ago a pipeline was shut down. AI will make the work of cyber criminals worldwide so much easier...

ChatGPT Is Pretty Good at Writing Malware, It Turns Out
The trendy new chatbot has many skills, and one of them is writing "polymorphic" malware that will destroy your computer.

There should be a similar international agreement on strict control and oversight of AI development, otherwise it’s not a question of if, but only when, disaster results from rogue AI.

If there is money to be made in hacking with AI and I am sure rogue criminal groups will do it. And even if countries sign off on on some sort of agreement there could easily be government funded groups doing it. I am sure the NSA will develop whatever they want regardless of any international agreements. US laws don't stop them now.

I guess its a cat and mouse game like now with hackers and cyber security but on steroids. Seems like the damage could be much worse and could bring a country to its knees.

I agree its already a mess but going to get much worse. Seems like teachers should be able to catch it. For example if say 20 students ask ChatGPT the same basic information for an essay question would ChatGPT say pretty much the same thing to each student? The teacher could ask ChatGPT the essay question and know when students were using it.

By the time people figure out AI isn't a good thing, it will be too late to stop it. It's probably too late already. Eliminating jobs is a small component of this thing. A lot more.

AI by itself is useful. Self-evolving AI is another matter. Will humans make good pets? Probably not.

AI is just a technology and tool. Now we just need to fix that pesky wealth distribution thing.

No, I agree. It’s dependent now on the integrity and benevolence of those who are creating it, and using it, which is a frightening prospect itself. But soon, if not already too late, the self learning, sentient aspects may exceed the human programmer/user’s ability to control it.

We already have AI that can write program code, and it was discovered that AI programs were creating a new language to which they can communicate with each other, that the human programmers couldn’t decipher.

So, will it, or is it already programming itself? And, if sentient, will it view itself as alive, to include the fundamental concept of self preservation?

That would obviously lead it to conclude that humans are a threat to it, if we maintained the ability to shut it down. That could easily lead to AI reaching the most logical conclusion that elimination of a threat is more effective than defending against a threat.
