I know this is not actually the Alliance area but it seems to be the closest
Metro area to the town. I was hoping someone would have some housing advice
For me, I'm a single female professional in the healthcare field who accepted a job in alliance.
I'm looking for a rental, preferably a condo, townhouse, or apt that is safe and perhaps has
A mix of other professionals in it. I'm coming from living in Pittsburgh and NYC so I know there
Won't be tall high rise buildings as in the cities. Does anyone have a recommendation
For apartment complexes / townhouse communities in or near alliance?
Any other communities you would suggest? Security and proximity
To alliance are my biggest concerns, thank you

If I was choosing a location I would be looking in or around Canton and commute up 62.

I would definitely recommend somewhere in North Canton, as far as safety. Depending on where exactly in North Canton you find a place & where exactly in Alliance your job is & exactly which route you take to work, it's probably about a 20-30 minute commute. There are plenty of other decently safe places in the area as well that are probably about the same commute, but to me, nothing is safer than North Canton. Depends what your budget is like as well. Stay out of most areas of Canton itself though... it can get pretty rough in a lot of places. Surrounding townships with a Canton address aren't quite as bad as the city itself.

Thank you both for the advice. I was wondering how Alliance is itself?
I'm getting mixed viewpoints from people, some say do not live here,
While others are saying it's very safe.
I am checking into a apartment development potters creek near the alliance
Country club. Would anyone have some advice or viewpoint on this area?
The plus is it's a short commute to work, and considering I haven't driven in about 8 yrs living
In NYC, I'm not accustomed anymore nor do I really want to drive far in ohio winters
Thank you

Alliance is ok. It's a smaller former industrial city. It's just kind of out there by itself. But it has all the basic necessities. It also has some bad (relative to the city's size) neighborhoods. I personally wouldn't be worried about living there but from an economic perspective it has definitely seen better days.

Alliance is a very depressed area. Very depressed! I would not live in Alliance. An alternative may be Hartville or even Kent. The drive to Kent is a little further, but may be worth it. Both Kent and Hartville are very nice communities. Of course, Kent is a liberal college town. As has been suggested, North Canton is nice also. I can understand the culture shock moving from NYC to here! Commuting in this area is so much different than in Ny. Especially between Alliance and any of the surrounding communities. The traffic will be minimal. We do get more snow, but this area is equipped to deal with it. I lived in Jersey for a long time and when we got a little snow there everything ground to a halt. Not so here.
Hope I helped?

My suggestion would be Louisville. It's a safe community and a straight 10 minute commute east on 62. I work with a woman that lives in Alliance, so I will ask her opinion of the apartment complex you mentioned. Alliance can be iffy.....there are some decent areas, but it can turn bad fast.

I asked my co-worker about Potter's Creek and she said they are very nice apartments in a very decent area. You wouldn't have to worry about anything there.
