Looking at a house on Storer Ave and looks like a nice neighborhood. Just wondering everyone else's opinion because I want to be in a safe neighborhood.

Storer used to be where the Dr"s and lawyers lived, that is why the homes look so elegant, but other than one or two blocks near exchange st is what todays youth consider the hood.
the hood is becoming a cancer which is spreading fast, you take a rust (rubber)belt town, the bad economy which hasn't been good for nearly 30 years, and lack of parenthood and this is what a town becomes....but Akron has a nice downtown!!!!! then again....I may be wrong

Yes this house is close to the exchange end of the street. Right near Bloomfield Ave. The neighborhood looked rather peaceful when I went to look at the house so I'm not sure if its in the area your talking about as being the hood.

I think HTLong is right, it's always peaceful during the day, go at night and see what it's really like. That neighborhood is a little too close to Hawkins for it to not be considered the hood.

Ok, now that that's said. In my experience, there is an art to living in Akron. Don't talk to anyone that you don't want talking to you. Always, always, always lock your house doors. Even if its the middle of the day. Get a security system for your car even if it's going to be parked in a garage and NEVER EVER leave anything that you don't want to get stolen and pawned on your porch. Not even a porch swing, take it in at night.
