NOT Akron:

looked at nice homes over the net appr. 120-130K at least a 3/2/2 lots of square foot inside. Ranch, or bi-level (few steps ok)

Know anyone that really wants to get out and will come down a bit in:

green, portage lakes, hartville, uniontown, clinton, canal fulton, brady lake
lake, pond, waterfront homes ok. which is the best, friendliest, and honest people area from these towns now days??

thanks.

I personally like Portage Lake and Canal Fulton. You will have to do some research. Try and find out some info around the Akron metro. You dont want to move to the city right? The suburbs are what you are looking for.

Green - good schools if that matters, still open spaces
Uniontown/Hartville, a bit cheaper than Green, similar area though.

To original poster, you can definitely find a decent home in a safe area for the price you're looking at in any of the communities you've mentioned. I hope you have a job lined up though; seriously, that would be my main concern. I don't know what your occupation is in FL, but please be sure that you can find a job in this area (if you're looking to be employed; perhaps you're not, which in that case will be not an issue).

Good luck on your move.

the akron home market is a buyers market. they are sitting there with no buyers, i just purchased 7 room rancher for 50 k between two lakes out in portage lakes, needs alittle work but not much.
i enjoy the coventry area of the lakes but the taxes are pretty high but not as bad as franklin,or green, the taxes on this house is 13,ooo a year.

htlong, did you buy a house in Coventry Twp? That is a great area. I was just watching the news last night, and they were saying how this is affecting the nation. The slow housing market has dropped 12% since last years ratings. It truly is a "buyers market."
