Well, if the state is to be in charge of the militia, then there will have to be legislation put into place to run it. So I would recommend that the organizers of the militia start working with legislators and other experts to get the appropriate legislation drafted and to get support in the legislature. It will be interesting to see how it is legally distinguished from the state national guard.

It's fine to be upset about what's happening, but it is even better to have a viable plan in place as to how to legally do something better.

Oh, and I'm a ma'am. Not a sir.

My apologies.

I agree with you 100%. It is obviously better to have practical solutions, as opposed to just being angry. I know some constitutional militia around the country are active in their state and local government affairs (town hall meetings, corresponding with authorities ect), but I don't know if that is taking place in Alabama.

When I move to Alabama in the near future, i'll be looking for a Constitutional Militia that is following the Bill of rights and State Law. Hopefully there's a Militia that exists that is active in local government affairs and has a genuine concern for it's community. Otherwise I wouldn't have anything to do with them.

This really should be in a different forum but:
The real numbers on illegal immigration : The New Yorker

I consider state militias enforcing what you saying to be correctly illegal, if they are behaving in the manner you likely desire. Equating illegal immigrants to terrorists is a scary thought.

Back on topic - Alabama has a State Militia in addition to the National Guard:

Quote:
The Alabama State Defense Force (http://www.sdf.alabama.gov/default.htm - broken link) (ASDF) is the state guard (official militia) for the State of Alabama allowed by the Constitution of Alabama... The official and primary mission of the ASDF... is to establish a cadre (of not more than 1,000 persons) that will be subject to the call of The Adjutant General of Alabama after partial or full mobilization of the Alabama National Guard.

I never said Illegal Immigrants are terrorists. Maybe you're not informed to the situation in Arizona and Mexico? The Terrorists i'm talking about are the Mexican Drug Cartels coming over our border in armed military escorts and killing anyone who gets in their way (Police, Militia, American citizens ect) and smuggling in sex slaves, illegal drugs, firearms, foreign terrorists ( YES Islamic Terrorists use Drug Cartels to get over the border into the US, among many other enemies of the US), and illegal immigrants. Mexico is in a full fleged civil war, and the violence is spreading over to our borders. Our Police are not equipped to deal with this kind of threat; which is why Arizona is sending out a distress call to the Federal Government for troops.

The drug cartels are also using American Citizens private property as drug storage. A rancher discovered recently that this was happening to him, and he reported it to the Police. Well as retribution the Drug Cartels brutally murdered the guy, and they did this to send out a message to other Americans in the area. This IS terrorism.

Explain to me why this is "correctly illegal" if it's in our Bill of Rights?

PS Thank you for the link Reactionary!

What does all that have to do with Alabama's situation?
Just because we can have a militia does not mean it has free rein to enforce its own ideas. There are still laws. I can justly have a gun, it doesn't mean I get to use it however I like.

It seems to me that according to your own posts, the best place for you to serve your country would be in a militia in Arizona.
