A friend is very sick with cancer, and would like a place to rent on Lake Weiss, near to Cedar Bluff if possible so she can be close to her parents.

You might try looking at some of the local newspapers.
You can view the classifieds online for both papers that we know about.

Not sure if it is the same there but here there is only one real estate company that manages rental property. You might call a realtor and ask for a referral. I found these for you

Well you could call them and ask if there are any long term rentals available, especially now a days when a lot of folks don't have money to go on vacations.
