I need some help in Family Law in Alabama; I know of a 16 year old boy who is a very nice young man but is being whipped with a belt in the Calhoun County area. His mother's family is well-known so feels she can get by with whatever she wants to, not saying she has money, just rep. Anyway, she has now forbidden this boy to see my daughter because I threatened to turn her in to DHR. She whips this boy because he doesn't clean up behinf her lazy 14 year old daughter. He gets these "whippings" when the father is at work so he doesn't believe the boy. It wouldn't matter anyway, I think he is afraid of her also. Im not though and that is why she wants him away from my daughter. They said they would run away and get married, but they are both way too young to do this just to get him out of an abusive household. Can anyone enlighten me?

You threatened to call DHR. I guess it is time to actually call DHR. Have you seen the evidence of the belt whippings? Bruises, lacerations, etc? Because chances are that once you report it, the boy may not be forthcoming to DHR. Are you prepared for that?
