is anyone else feeling as anxious as i am about the overnight...personally i have never had this experience before it is a bit creepy...thoughts suggestions etc all are welcome

Strong Storms Tomorrow Night : The Alabama Weather Blog Information on both is kept up-to-the-minute. Make sure you can get ABC 33/40 on TV...the audio is often picked up by local radio stations.
Do you have a weather radio? If not, get one - they are battery powered (always have extra batteries on hand) and pick up only the National Weather Service broadcasts, which will give you alerts and warnings.
I turn it on if I think the weather will be bad.
Tonight, I believe it's just going to be some strong thunderstorms.

My wife was very anxious about it and stayed up all night watching the news. I slept through every bit of it - and had no idea so much rain had fallen. Now half the metro seems to be under water. And more rain on the way... Glad there were no tornadoes though.

I agree get you a weather radio. They make them now where you can select what warnings you want to get.

Here's a different thought. If you have a smartphone, I would instead recommend iMap Weather Radio. That thing is great and it travels with you wherever you go.
