STEVENSON, Ala. (AP) — James Davis is fighting to keep the remains of his late wife right where he dug her grave: In the front yard of his home, just a few feet from the porch.

Davis said he was only abiding by Patsy Ruth Davis' wishes when he buried her outside their log home in 2009, yet the city sued to move the body elsewhere. A county judge ordered Davis to disinter his wife, but the ruling is on hold as the Alabama Civil Court of Appeals considers his challenge.

Let's face it, Mr Davis isn't going to live forever, and eventually someone else will live in that house, I doubt they'll want a grave next to their front porch.

I had to look Stevenson up, never heard of it before.

Default Ala. man fights to keep wife buried in front yard in STEVENSON

This is a sad state of affairs , Stevenson with a population of just over 2000 and not even a dot on the map is worried someone will see the love this man had for his wife. The city leaders and those who are worried should hang their head sin shame. While they sit in church they need to reflect why they are really there and if God would approve of their actions. Bet they are proud of all the National media attention this has bought to this little hole in the wall place. I mean really who are you worried about seeing this ??? This story is alover Facebook and many other news outlets and there is NO SUPPORT for the city of STEVENSON , LEAVE THIS MAN ALONE and find something useful to spend your time on.

Default North Alabama fights to keep wife buried in front yard

I dunno why the "powers that be" are concerned. Few people live there-even fewer visit. If he had buried her in the middle of main street it wouldn't have caused a real problem.

Family graveyards dot this entire country. People spread cremated ashes everywhere. The judge reminds me of something that is similar to the word used to describe a sharp pointy object.

Why would that be Mr. Davis' concern now?

My point was that she IS going to be dug up, either now, or after he's dead. What does he think, that he's going to be buried there next to her? Sounds to me like they didn't plan ahead too well while she was still alive.

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just stating the facts.

I don't think I have ever seen a post on this site that is so devoid of that which makes us human!

Apparently there's some disagreement here.
