Good Afternoon, I will be possibly attending the University of Alabama after medically retiring from the military later this year. I wanted to know some neighborhoods in Tuscaloosa/Northport that are great for a student who want to buy a small home(>150K) vs renting. I'm open for condos but I prefer a small home with a decent yard. Age of the home is not an issue and I would rather live close to campus.

I would look at either south of the river in the area south of Veteran's Memorial Pkwy, north and along of Hargrove Rd, and east of McFarland Blvd, or north of the river in Northport. Quite and family oriented, away from the rowdy student crowd near campus.

Could you, by chance, be persuaded to attend a real university?

This is stupid. As much as I despise Walmart Bammers, and other bandwagoners, UA is a fine school. I've known people who attended at both the undergrad and grad level, and they are doing quite well for themselves.

i would suggest you to go for condos, that would be quite easy to be found near the campus.
