Is it true in the Prattville HS system or anywhere else in Alabama that if a student takes the driver's education course he/she is exempt from the actual driver's exam??? Arrrgh!!!

I doubt it. At my high school time, if you took the schools drivers ed you did not need to take a private drivers ed class. That's it.

Default Thank you...

... My granddaughter is trying to tell my daughter if she passes the drivers' ed course at school next year, she won't have to take the actual road test for her license!

I'm sure the troopers will disabuse her of that notion.

Well it could be true if they get a graduated license.
http://dps.alabama.gov/Documents/Doc...dDLProgram.pdf

The document does state if you are 18, you do have to take a driving test.

That document say's they must "Must complete road skills examination with a passing grade". That is what the driving test is called in Alabama. What this graduated Drivers license does is restrict people under 16 from being able to drive after midnight or before 6am, no use of wireless devices, no more than one passenger etc. All it does is limit the privileges for those under 18 or 17 with less than 6 months with the restricted license. To obtain a license in Alabama to drive alone you must take the Road Skills (driving) test. No exceptions.

Default true or false about driver's ed

I dunno. I grew up n a very remote area a long time ago. Drivers ed consisted ofmy Dad explaining the shift pattern and handing me the keyswhen I was around 6. By the time I reached 16,I had been driving a while and was proficient with Cars, large trucks, tractors and Doziers etc. They still made me take the test.
