I second this.

I am another vote for the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville and Cathedral Caverns close to Grant. The Space and Rocket Center has both an upright fully assembled space shuttle outside and also one on its side broken apart into it's respective rocket stages. If you have never seen one up close, it is something to marvel. Catherdral Caverns is one of the best caves you will ever tour.

As for the weather, as southlander aluded to; Alabama weather is all over the map this time of year. In December, you may see highs anywhere between 25 to 75 and possible lows as far down as the teens or rarely single digits. I have ridden around at Christmas multiple times with windows down or A/C on but then again we have had a little snow.

IMO if the 9 yo is male, then I second cpg - the Barber Motorsports Museum is breath-taking.
