My husband is a boat mechanic and we are looking to relocate to the Alabama area. What is a good area to start looking that is not only near lakes and/or rivers but has marinas for him to begin his job search?

Lake Guntersville, Scottsboro or Decatur are on Lakes/Rivers. Huntsville is also near the Tenn river. There are several marinas in Guntersville. I am sure there are just as many in other areas too. Further south Mobile or Fairhope, on the Bay or Gulf Shores on the on the Gulf.

There are quite a few large lakes in AL such as Smith Lake and Weiss Lake in a more rural setting. There is also Lake Martin and Lake Erline near Montgomery IIRC

I'd find out which part of the state is the best fit for you, then search out nearby marinas. There are a lot in Alabama, from the ones that ring the Tennessee River to the ones along major lakes such as Martin, Mitchell, etc., and the ones along the Gulf Coast.
