I hate to be a party pooper but Old Hickory may have helped create the Great State of Alabama, but he accomplished that through the blood of thousands of Creek women, and children.. Great guy that old Andy
They were my ancestors and it was a hell of a way to grab a piece of land

D is for Dale County, named for Samuel Dale who helped create the State of Alabama. Dale fought alongside General Andrew Jackson in the Creek War (War of 1812) - during which US troops, Tennessee militia, and their Lower Creek and Cherokee allies defeated the Red Stick Upper Creeks, who were supported by the British and Spanish.

Dr Spock - there were Creeks on both sides - let's not forget the blood of hundreds of Lower Creeks and white settlers massacred at Fort Mims by the Red Stick Creeks.

D is also for deficit hawk - President Andrew Jackson led the only US government administration to pay off the national (D is for) debt.
