In the Columbus, GA thread, there is a 60+ page discussion of upcoming, current, and completed projects. It is refreshing to see people talking about their community, discussions of what they would like to see, what other places have. How about here?

This is useful for several reasons.

First of all, business development in any area positively impacts EVERYONE there. Example. You build a new restaurant. People come eat. They are happy, you make money so you are happy. But what else is going on? You had to pay for the land: government gets tax and land owner gets paid, real estate broker gets paid. You build the restaurant: contracting company gets money, contractors have jobs and get paid, security system installed (I GET PAID), people start talking about development of that area. You open the restaurant: you hire people to work, advertisements, marketing. Moral of the story, everyone is impacted in a positive way by new business development.

Second, people talk about where they live. By having this forum in the first place, people are discussing what is going on around them in a social aspect. Why not also use this as more of a business conversation? A resident notices land being cleared, posts on here asking what is being built there. Someone else finds out and posts back that it is a new restaurant. This starts a discussion of what other people hope to see. A business owner Googles "new business in _____" and sees that people are talking about what they want to see. Win Win.

Someone get on it! There should be threads like this for Birmingham, Huntsville, Auburn/Opelika, Montgomery, and Mobile areas, if not even Eufaula and Dothan. Huge opportunities as mere residents of these areas to help develop and grow our communities!

Birmingham thread has something like that just worded differently. I think the people of Huntsville area will or may have one sometime soon. But for other parts of the state especially Mobile area thread well.......have to wait and see.
