No. US 80 is 4 lanes from Montgomery to Uniontown (where it becomes a rough little two lane road for about 4 miles) and then back to 4 lanes to just west of Demopolis, where it goes down to two lanes out to the Mississippi border.

I stand corrected.

Default Google satellite view of unfinished roadway

Here's a link to a satellite view of the unfinished roadway of the Outer Montgomery Loop:

(pardon my url fail)

Montgomery Advertiser reporting Focus 2000 (non-profit) will study building Outer Loop as a toll road. I can't figure out how to get the link on here if somebody else wants to try.

There is some talk about creating a Tollroad Authority that would finish this much needed project.
I think it had more to do with the fact that Montgomery needed a northern by-pass the way a fish needs a bicycle. There simply wasn't enough demand for it, and the state decided to spend its money on more compelling things, such as finally finishing the Interstate between Memphis and Birmingham. Now THAT's a road project that will have a huge economic effect on the area.

Now that the deed is done, folks have accepted it and it's time to complete the project. It's a beautiful area and there are many fabulous homes being built out that way. Montgomery has only one way to grow....EAST! Completion of the Outer Loop would free up traffic congestion on I-85 thru Montgomery by routing it around the city. It's time to find the money and give Montgomery a chance to grow in a positive way.
The only REAL positive way for Montgomery to grow is where it already exists; downtown. Montgomery's downtown should be revitalized, as it is being now, so that the real Montgomery isn't abandoned and there isn't endless growth out east. Also, there IS the long forgotten West Montgomery and southwest out towards Hope Hull where Hyundai is.
