I can't find that many around Birmingham, and the cities in general are going toward a different urban style of offering. They shut down Terry's in Huntsville, so I'm just about done looking for great southern restaurants in the metro areas. I'm always on the road, and always looking for new ones.

It Don't Matter - Highland Home is one of my favorites.

Got any more?

I knew about Terry's Pizza in Huntsville; was there another Terry's?

David's Catfish on Main Street (AL21) in Atmore is awesome.

I should add that David's is not a buffet.

Mildred's in Ardmore does have a pretty decent buffet.

Dot's in Hillsboro is not an all-you-can-eat buffet, but is a meat-and-two (or three) served cafeteria style.

Surely you're familiar with Niki's West in Birmingham. Not all you can eat, but all the vegetables in the world served cafeteria style.

Or do you mean all-you-can-eat?

Not a buffet, true. But they do offer all you can eat cafish.

There's a buffet in Saraland we really like, I think it's called Barnyard Buffet.

I didn't even know that place was there. I'm wondering if it's owned by the Barnhill family that had restaurants in Pensacola and Atmore (the one in Atmore was in the old Golden Corral next to Walgreens, now demolished).

South of Montgomery (30 miles) , Bates House of Turkey has the best smoked turkey sandwich there is. I never miss it, if I am in the area.
