My wife and I are thinking of moving from Maryland to Alabama and wanted to get the perspective of some people who live there. We want country living. I'm a school custodian, and she is an in home aide for the elderly. We have 1 daughter whose 6, and a baby boy on the way. Things I'm wondering are how is the job market in rural Alabama, quality of schools, and such? Together we make about $50,000 a year here in Maryland.

Do you want to live in a mountainous area with 4 seasons or a coastal area with maybe 3 seasons ?

You have posted similar threads in a number of state forums as well as an older one in the general forum. I'm going to lock this one until you DM me with more detail of what, why, and when, and what it is SPECIFICALLY that has drawn you to consider Alabama. There are PLENTY of existing threads here that answer your basic questions, and the City-Data main site provides all the data about various demographics, housing costs, etc. You need to do some research on your own before yet another thread gets opened on a subject that has been hashed to death - especially since it appears that Alabama is not the main target of your inquiries.
Please register to post and access all features of our very popular forum. It is free and quick. Over $68,000 in prizes has already been given out to active posters on our forum. Additional giveaways are planned.
