So true!!!! Stay near a rail line - that'll certainly help.

I mean, if you want a great beach, skip Alabama and go to Florida. See how that works? Matter of fact, OP, I would certainly go ahead and plan for that, at least go to Destin and check out that area. If you feel like partying, go to Panama City Beach. Keep in mind that scene will be a little bit wild that time of year.

Mississippians are used to getting looked down upon by fake elitists like the ones in this thread, but at least keep it factual.

And OP, if you do indeed go to New Orleans, be very careful. The crime there is out of control, so know where and when to go certain places.
We are just calling it the way we see it, just as you are entitled to your opinion. With limited time, south MS is just not worth spending much time in, IMO. Destin is going to be a furthur drive and a whole lot more crowded. You should be fine in NOLA as long as you're not walking in deserted areas late at night.

I’m not exactly sure what that is, but it’s more than a Southern accent. Lol

Wow. Thankfully you don't hear that every day.

Thank you for the suggestions, I was busy with school. It's been a long week lol. I am still confused. I do not feel like going to Georgia now because I am going to a conference in Charleston SC in September and will visit Savannah on the way. I have been to Florida and do not feel like going there again.

My focus is Louisiana Mississippi Alabama.

With limited time, here's your trip, in about 5 days:

1) Spend at least a couple nights in New Orleans. Walk down Bourbon Street once, just to say you did, then go down to Jackson Square, get you some coffee and beignets, find a good restaurant or two, too many to name. I'd probably just hang around the French Quarter and look around if it's your first trip. Take Uber at night, stay where the people are, don't wander down lonely alleys, etc.
2) Go to Bay St. Louis, walk around for a while, then drive over to Biloxi and stay at a casino if that's your thing. You could go fishing if you want. Check out the Katrina museum. If not, stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Ocean Springs. Tons of great seafood here, too many to name.
3) Drive through the tunnel in Mobile, perhaps stop at the U.S.S. Alabama, eat lunch at Felix's, then head over and stay in Point Clear maybe, have a dinner.
4) Go down to Orange Beach, stay a couple nights, get some food, go fishing, lay on the beach, whatever. The food goes downhill in Alabama, but the beaches are better, so take advantage.

I would check out Belingrath Gardens. About 30 minutes southwest of Mobile. Lovely place!

Wish you well in your travels.

If you plan on sticking to the coast or larger cities then I think you'll enjoy your experience. I would highly suggest jumping off the highway and travel some of the local state roads in either LA, MS, AL, or GA and have lunch or dinner at any of local restaurants. Simple southern cooking can be found in a classification of restaurant's that you may not be familiar with given your background called; a meat & three. Simple southern homemade cooking without any patronizing staff or customers. Additionally, you'll be able to experience some of the small towns, the people who give them life, and their southern accents & charms.

Good luck and be safe.

Yes, it's great. I don't know when the azaleas bloom down there though.

You'll enjoy both Savannah and Charleston. The first time I went to Charleston I was surprised how large it is. Be sure to take one of the guided bus tours.

Someone earlier suggested Atlanta - Atlanta and Savannah are worlds apart.
