Montgomery had some pretty rapid rises in population in the late 20th century, going from about 134,000 in 1960 to over 205,000 in 2010, but most of the increase was between 1960 and 1990.

Were those increases due to annexations, or were they due to actual growth?

More than likely, that’s how Mobile and Birmingham operated so I imagine that’s how they did it

It’s really a shame that Montgomery doesn’t have its own forum, especially given that it is the same size as the other 3 cities, just slightly smaller metro. I’ve seen less qualifying forums in other states, should have a montgomery-Auburn forum

^ i think it actually has to do with how much activity on the board there is. so for instance, if the main "Alabama" forum became populated with topic after topic relating to Montgomery, it would likely get its own subforum.

although there's probably a bit of chicken/egg thing at play... Montgomery forumers might not be enticed to post anything since there isn't a subforum, and there isn't a Montgomery subforum because few people post anything...

I know within the last 10 years or so it's been annexation. At one time they were pushing for a city/county consolidation.

Most of Montgomery's city limits and population take up overwhelmingly majority of the county.
