Ok, we are just beginning our land search and I'd like a little help. We travel up the back roads from Florida to the races in Talladega every Spring. Our latest route took us across the middle of the state on Rt 22 between Alexander City and I-65. (We stay in Columbian for those of you who want to know why we went this way...it's free lodging...lol)
We're looking for 5+ acres somewhere near water for fishing ect.
Now because of Hubby's diabetes, I feel we need to be closer to Alex City than Rockford...but then comes Sylacauga north of Rockford.
In your humble opinion which (medically) would be better to be closer to?
Thanks!!!

My neice is a registered nurse and lives in Alex City and she goes to the doctor in Sylacauga. The hospital in Sylacauga (Coosa Valley Medical Center) just completed a total makeover. She said she would not want to have to use the hospital in Alex City. Also, its only about 45 minutes from Sylacauga to Brookwood hospital and probably about an hour to Carraway which has several endocrinologists and a diabetes clinic.
On the other hand, Martin Lake is much nicer than Lay Lake IMHO.
