My husband and I just moved to Enterprise and I am trying to find a place that recycles glass. No luck with Enterprise city or in Dothan as far as I can find. Coming from Louisville, KY where they recycle EVERYTHING, I am having trouble wrapping my head around this.

Thanks for any help!!

Welcome to South Alabama. My fiancee is from Enterprise. We both now live in Tuscaloosa, another place where they don't recycle glass. However, you can do what we do: drive to Birmingham. Next time you are going through B'ham, drop off your glass at the Alabama Environmental Council's Recycling Center, at 2431 2nd Ave. North, Birmingham. Also, I don't know what kinds of plastics you can recycle in E'prise, but at the AEC RC, they accept #s 1-7.

I feel the SAME way. However you can recycle glass at Target in Dothan. We live in Enterprise and don't go into Dothan often but we pile up all our glass and drop it off there whenever we can. As you walk in, you will see glass recycling near the registers. We always get stares since we don't go often so we would have 3 bags full of glasses of beer and wine but at least I have a clean conscious knowing they're being recycled!

Now that's interesting..... I'm in Dothan and shop at Target frequently - never noticed a glass recycling dropoff there - mind if I share this info on our local community message board?

Absolutely! Please share with everyone. Once you enter the Target, there's a few bins next to the register. One for glass, one for plastic bags, and plastic bottles, etc. Unfortunately Enterprise doesn't recycle glass, but at least Dothan does.

UPDATE: Last time I went to Target, they moved the bins to the area right in front of Starbucks by the front entrance. Looks like they got bigger bins to carry the recycling goods

Thank You for info on glass recycling! I really like my new hometown of Dothan, but I can't believe how unimportant recycling seems to be. Throwing away glass is crazy!

This message board was super helpful. My wife and I have been stacking our glass since moving to Enterprise since we thought it was wasteful to just throw out. Coming from the Midwest (me) and Pac NW (wife) we've been recycling most of our adult lives. Thanks for the heads up about Target!
