Somehow, I am not surprised. They will paint it as a win for American workers and an American company in this down economy, even though EADS would have employed American workers to build the planes - they won't mention that on the nightly news.

I`m not suprised either the slogan build American had a lot of weight to it...Alabama is just a cow pasture a remark from a Washington state senator.

I agree ! I feared that if EADS would have won Boeing would close shop in Huntsville.

I'm definitely not pro-defense spending, and I didn't really keep up on this, but I actually think defense is one industry that I don't mind if the US is protective about its industry. Was the whole thing going to be built in the US by EADS, or under Boeing was there still more of it based in the US overall?

On to the next one. Private industries are much better anyway.

I personally don't think it matters. It is kind of like when people talk about cars and how their Toyota Camry is made in the USA by American workers and the Ford Fusion is made in Mexico. I think the bottom line is the money eventually finds its way back home which in the case of the Camry is Japan and the case of EADS tanker, the Netherlands.
